๐ Off-leash hikes
On County Open Space, East Bay Regional Parks and posted GGNRA zones, dogs can roam off-leash under voice control (leash up in developed/parking areas). Keep a leash handy and a solid recall ready.
๐ฆฎ On-leash hikes
Some of the Bay Area’s most scenic trails welcome dogs on leash โ coastal bluffs, lake loops and shaded paths across every corner of the region.
- Rules vary by land manager. County Open Space & East Bay Regional Parks allow off-leash on trails under voice control; GGNRA, state and most Peninsula (Midpen) lands are leash-only or restrict dogs. Check the signs.
- State parks & Point Reyes are strict. Most ban dogs on trails โ see dog-friendly Bay Area state parks for what’s allowed.
- Foxtails & ticks in season. Dry grassland trails carry both โ read up on foxtails and ticks.
- Bring water & bags. Pack water for hot, exposed trails and clean up every time.
- Mind cliffs & recall. Coastal and ridge trails have real edges โ keep control near drop-offs and roads.
Andy can take your pooch on a longer adventure walk or drive them to the trailhead & back. Add it when you book.
