Andy, who leads the group hikes

Hi, I’m Andy 👋

Dogs are my favorite companions — and there’s nothing I love more than getting them out on the trails. Most weekday mornings you’ll find me somewhere in the hills of Marin with a small pack of regulars, out among the fire roads, creeks and very good smells.

It didn’t start that way. I began with solo neighborhood walks — and the trails are where the job ended up, because that’s where the dogs told me it belonged.

Can’t wait to meet you and your pup on the trail! ðŸū

⛰ïļ How the hikes started

I did what most dog walkers do: solo walks around the neighborhood, in Marin and the Marina in San Francisco. Half an hour, a familiar loop, home again.

But I kept seeing the same thing. I’d walk a young shepherd or a doodle or a husky mix, hand them back, and they’d still be pacing the hallway before I reached the car. A sidewalk lap isn’t exercise for a dog built to cover ground.

So I started driving a few of them out to the open space instead. Same dogs, same hours, completely different animal at the end of it — properly worked, properly settled. That was the whole argument, made once, by the dogs. These days the week is built around it: weekday group hikes, mornings, in the hills, with stable packs of dogs who know each other.
